Who We Are — Ahiska Turks

We are Ahiska Turks (Meskhetian Turks), a people historically connected to Meskheti in southern Georgia. In 1944, we were deported from our homeland to Central Asia by Soviet authorities. After that, many of our families went through further displacement, and today we live across different countries. Despite borders and distance, we are united by shared history, respect for elders, memory of our ancestors, strong family ties, and responsibility to future generations. We preserve family archives, pass our language and traditions to our children, support one another in our communities, and work to keep connections alive between families and countries. This platform is our common digital space: a place where we can preserve our history, find relatives, strengthen our ties, and leave a reliable memory of our people.
